“People need to stop looking at TBO.com as an add on to The Tampa Tribune”. “The truth is

The big die-off
reorganize the newsroom and lay off a bunch of staffers. Sounds all too routine, but she generated a wave of over 100 comments that capture the restive state of the industry today. In a nutshell, nobody’s happy. Many are attacking her for being insensitive about the layoffs

There has been grumbling within the newsroom and skepticism from without. But many staffers have quietly wished us well, and

Essentially, it’s a shakeup of the traditional beat system. From Mindy McAdams’ blog: Managing editors 5-6 audience editors — keep in touch with what the print, TV, online audiences want/need 5 sections of reporting (all the reporters for print, TV and Web are mashed up together in these groups):

Boston Globe's got the Big Picture
stocked up with some pretty amazing photo imagery. They say one of their inspirations is National Geographic, and the quality and interestingness (that's a great Flickr word :o)) of the images certainly suggests that. Amazing stuff!! ::via Mindy at Teaching Online Journalism

It’s not a closed door
ve tried to explain it here. Another team member, Andrew Zahler, has written about it in his blog. Mindy McAdams has referenced our project on her blog, “Teaching Online Journalism.” Andrew summed it all up nicely: This is exciting and scary as hell. OK. But what the heck are we doing? Simply put, we’ve been talking. A lot. We met for a few hours Monday and Tuesday.
